I think Mixxy's stuff is in the mail. I inquired to Aaron as to his status. He says he still has an interest in hearing & providing the collections, but will not have time for comments. I would be inclined to have him remain in the fold, as long we're comfortable with an arrangment that we're not expecting any further commentary on his part. I implored him to post his situation in this forum and see what you guys thought, though (as you can see), nothing doing yet. Which should really be no surprise.
I am okay with that arrangement. However, it would be great to hear at least a wrap up on each album. It doesn't have to be long at all. Maybe a paragraph or two.
Basically an indication if he got it or not and if he liked it or not.

Sending a cd to someone who is not going to comment on it sucks. Perhaps I'll just e-mail him the songs.
That's kind of a good point. What we do is in a kind of dicey area, from a legal standpoint, but I've always reconciled it with myself based on the "scholarship" involved with our discussions. If anything, we've been increasing album sales for these respective artists as we hear the songs.
It definitely doesn't seem like all that much fun to send our collections out to a void. Or to get collections without commentary. In any event, not really the "mission statement" of the CMC.
I think this really does warrant a little further discussion. This is like "12 Angry Men" and I'm Juror #4. I'm right on the fence.
On a side note-we went from having perhaps too many people in the club (at our max of 6) to now possibly being down to 4, which may be too few. If we did decide that we wouldn't continue with Aaron (though totally leaving him the option of joining back up when & if his schedule frees up), what would you guys think about possibly sending out an invite to Stephen-who has worked his way back into our lives somewhat, anyway. He certainly has a rich history of music commentary (remember when, in high school, he was going to be the next Kurt Loder?). He might be very interested in this, and certainly has the time & inclination to provide commentary. And the thoughfulness to make it worthwhile.
I've been thinking of the SJC option for a while, to fill the Miles gap. It seems to me that you're interested in this and can give it a few hours a month - 30 days times 24 hours = 720 hours available - or you can't.
I'm against being on the fence. In this case, you're either with us, or your against us. Joining back up in full force when your schedule is more open is fine, though dealing with the inevitable references missed may be annoying, but so be it.
I have no bitterness no matter how it may sound. If it works for you and you're interested, great. If not, best wishes to you.
Cory & Gibbs-do you second (third) this? I imagine if we have three of us thinking it's the way to go, it'll be a "quorum." I can let Aaron know-tactfully, I hope.
On the Stephen thing. Who else would be for extending the hand of invite, besides me & Mixxxx?
I'm good at side notes-but it seems to me that 5 is an ideal number. Beyond not being too many people the staggered months, year to year, they seem to desire.
Actually, I have been waiting for you to bring his name up. I thought that you would have done so when we found out that Miles was under the bridge with the Three Trolls. I am totally open to it. I hope he is open to having a musical idiot sending him cd's.

I would implore Aaron to continue to be a member of the club and to take the time to offer up some comments. I implore for a number of reasons.
I want you to know that your comments are valued.
We share a chunk of musical history together and have many intersections in our musical tastes as well as wild differences.
You know, understand, and appreciate music on a high level.
You have your own unique angle on the songs that is both informed and steadfast. You have opinions and you express them.
I find it, unfortunately, one of the few ways that I am able to continue being in a musical relationship with you.
I am thirsty for some Aaron.
I want Aaron.
After only two offerings, we have only just begun to really dig in. The face of comments will turn,change, and evolve into something we cannot possibly imagine. You will want and need to be a part of it.
The CMC, as proven so far, is not out to kill those that are late with comments or discs. There are no tardy slips.
I think if you really wanted to, you could cough up an hour a month.
Do it for yourself.
If not, do it for the club.
If not, I implore you to just do it for me.
I really like hearing your take on songs. You are good for the club.
Let's reinstate Aaron to full rank and honor him with our love and...well...comments.

Well put, Gibbons. I can send your imploration along to Aaron to make sure he reads it. But, of course, if he agrees to continue commenting, there's no issue at all. But the topic at hand was discussing what we should do, if he should decide (as it appears he has) that he will not be commenting.
If Mighty Tom's words won't bring him back, nothing could.
4 cd's are being prepared. 1 for each of you and one for myself or AJ/SJC.
